The History of the North American Fantasy Football
League
The NAFFL was started in the fall of 1945,basically as a rebuttle to the
other league going on at this time.In the winter of early January 1945,the founder of the naffl announced that there will
be 10 cities dedicated to the enjoyment of pro football once again.Chicago,Philadelphia,Pittsburgh,Detroit,Cleveland,San
Francisco,Baltimore,Washington,New York, and Boston were the cities awarded franchises before February of 1945.
Many of the players in the league were walkons, non drafted college players and World War II returnees just looking for work.Since
there was no college entry draft until the spring of 1946,the NAFFL was rather interesting to fans, and unexperienced
players made the league almost a near miss with America.
By
1960,many cities became involved in the league, and for a passion of pro football.Minnesota,Denver,Oakland,Kansas City,Buffalo,Cincinatti,Houston,Arizona,San
Diego, and Tennessee all began play in the 1960 season.Miami,Los Angeles in 1965,and Atlanta and New Orleans in 1967.The rest
of franchises were Seattle,Orlando(1976),Columbus,Carolina(1986),Tampa Bay,Birmingham(1992),and San Jose,New Jersey(1995).1995 set
the stage for 32 teams in the league.
